CANADIAN DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNICATIONS
(DOCI STATEMENT
NOTICE
The Canadian Department of Communications label identifies certified equipment. This certification means that the equipment meets certain
telecommunications network protective, operational and safety requirements. The Department does not guarantee the equipment will operate
to the user’s satisfaction.
Before installing this aquipment, users shouid ensure that it is permissible to be connected to the facilities of the iocal telecommunications
company. The equipment must also be instalied using an acceptable mathod of connection. In some cases, the company’s inside wiring as-
sociated with a single line individual servica may be extended by means of certified connector assembiy (telephone extension cord). The cus-
tomer should be aware that compliance with the abova conditions may not prevent degradation of sewice in some situations.
Repairs to certified equipment should be made by an authorized Canadian maintenance facility designated by the suppiier. Any repairs or al-
terations made by the user to this equipment, or equipment malfunctions, may give the telecommunications company cause to request the
user to disconnect the equipment.
Users should ensure for their own protection that the electrical ground connections of the power utility, telephone lines and internal metallic
water pipe system, if present, are connected together. This precaution may be particularly important in rural areas.
Caution: User should not attempt to make such connections themselves, but should contact the appropriate eiectric inspection authority,
or electrician, as appropriate.
The Load Nu mber (LN) assigned to each terminal device denotes the percentage of the total ioad to be connected to a teiephone loop which is
usedby the davica, to preventoverloading. The terminationon a loop may consistof any combinationof devices subject only to the require-
ment that the totai of the Load Numbers of all the devices does not exceed 100.

oomblnaison de dispositifs, pouwu que la somme des indices de charge de I’ensemble des dispositifs ne d4paese pas 100.
CALIFORNIA STATE FIRE MARSHAL (CSFM)
24 HOUR BATTERY BACK-UP REQUIREMENTS
The California State Fire Marshai has published new regulations which require that all residential fire alarm control panels
instailed after June 30, 1993 must be provided with a ba;k-up battery which”has sufficient capacity to operate the panel and
its attached peripheral devices for 24 hours in the intended standby condition, followed by at least 4 minutes in the intended
fire alarm signaling condition.
This control panel can meet these requirements without using a supplementary power supply, provided that the panel’s
auxiliary power and bell output currents are limited as indicated below.
